A - jak Atlantyk, co trzeba go przejsc,
B - jest jak burta, burty zawsze sa dwie,
C - jest jak cuma - "Wybierz i obloz ja!",
D - jak dryfkotwa, dziob, dirki i dno.

E - jest jak Eol, co sprzyja dzis nam,
F - tak jak faly - "Hej, wybierac fal!"
G - jak gejtawy, gordingi i grot,
H - jest jak handszpak - trzeba mocno pchac go.

W morze isc trzeba dzis... I - to jest sygnal: "Zmieniam w lewo moj kurs."
J - jest jak juzing - zagle szyc trzeba znow,
K - jest jak kubryk, gdzie slychac nasz spiew,
L - jak latarnia, co blyski nam sle.

M - jest jak marsel, pietro nizej jest grot,
N - tak jak nagiel, niderholer i nok,
O - jak obijacz - "Dalej, na burte go!"

Q - zas oznacza: "Moj statek jest zdrow".
R - jest jak reje, gdzie wlazimy co dzien,
S - jest jak saling, stenga i ster.

U - jest jak Uznam, gdzie znam kazdy kat,
W - jest jak wimpel - prostuje go wiatr,
Z - jest jak zejman, co oplynal ten swiat.

"Alfabet bosmanski" ("The Bosun's Alphabet") - an old forebitter dating from the second half of the 18th century which could also be used as a pumping shanty. In the English version, the letters of the alphabet stand for completely different items connected with the sea and familiar to every sailor.
