Rainbow Warrior

Words & music original: Ken Stephens

An iridescent ship upon the sea,
A symbol that oppression shall not be,

Now the world's a little sadder,
And the earth's a little sorrier,
But we will remember "Rainbow Warrior".
Internationally manned she sails the seas for all.
Stopping sealers blows and nuclear out - falls.
    Now the world's...
She saved the whales within her Greenpeace guise
And kept pollution from the seas and skies.
    Now the world's...
Sunk in Auckland Harbour by a cowardly mine
Her cause goes on because its yours and mine
    Now the world's...

Until nature's back in charge again
And the world is safe for ever more
    We will remember "Rainbow Warrior".

Until nature's back in charge again
And the world is safe for ever more
    We will rebuild "Rainbow Warrior".

"Rainbow Warrior" - a famous converted trawler belonging to Greenpeace. This song was written two days after she was bombed and sunk in New Zealand. A Polish photographer drowned and others on board were injured. The ship was to sail to interrupt French nuclear testing in the Pacific in the late '80's. The French Secret Service had three people arrested by New Zealand Authorities and they were found guilty of the crime. The criminals were sent to serve their sentences in France but were then quickly released. Greenpeace replaced "Rainbow Warrior" and still fight world pollution peacefully without weapons. Ken Stephens has dedicated this song to "Greenpeace International".
